I do feel sorry for you. I understand being last in line for the upgrade is the most problematic issue. But the (lack of) communication seems to knock down the symetry that should exist between the respect you have for Devialet and the one you feel they have for you.
But frankly, the 1000 Pro is just the next amp. I could not see you, and a few others on this great forum, with just the next amp. It could only be the limited edition. This will remain long after the upgrade.
The SQ delta from OdA to 1000 seems limited. The streaming will be the real plus.
Regards
Francois

Well we just don't know. There are a number of significant differences between the O d'A and 1000 Pro, not least of all the new power supply which can now handle 4kW transients. Then there is the new Class A amp, new ADH and Magic Wire DAC etc.., although on this final point I'm not even clear whether the O d'A already has this or not, an example of the poor comms I was discussing. It almost feels like Devialet have been trying to downplay the differences between the O d'A and the 1000 Pro, there just hasn't been any clarity and believe me we have been pushing for more info on this.

On paper there is every reason to expect the jump from O d'A to 1000 Pro to be substantial. I imagine some of the dealers will be able to compare the two soon seeing as many dealers still have unsold stock thanks to the launch of the 1000 Pro.

Anyway at some point I'm going to have to draw a line under all this and move on as it is getting tedious. I imagine I must be coming across as a spoilt brat to some of you.

Guillaume
I'm starting to think maybe it's time to move on and replace my dev 800 with naim 500 series. I lost my trust in the company. somehow I feel Devialet don't know what type of company they want to become.
for me the lack of transparency the confusion and overall attitude is a sign of red flag .
My only problem is I actually like the 800. I think it's an excellent product as is. I also not sure if naim sounds any better
Hi Guillaume,
I really feel for you with regards to the shortness of time between the purchase of your top of the range and the introduction of the next top of the range, spoilt brat does'nt enter the equation.
I have to say from a selfish point of view I'm quite excited about having my 800 upgraded mainly due to your very positive and enthusiastic reports you posted.
My 800 matches £40,000 worth of Naim kit I had previously so goodness knows what one would have to pay out to match a 1000 Pro.
Cheers,
Bill

Hi 32,
Naim Nac 552 Nap 300 NDS 555ps NDX Xps Naimfraim and I use Wilson Benesch C60's. I did use a Velodyne DD12 sub with this but it is not required  with SAM.

No, not really.

It's a genuine grievance and the fact that it involves the top of the line model(s) doesn't make you seem somehow spoilt. If anything many of us can probably relate to your feelings pretty closely - despite it being a high profile 'incident' - it probably leaves a similar taste to some of my Devialet experiences where I ultimately felt pretty f'ed off.

Mine was money spent on streamer gear and sundries, plus valuable time dealing with support, feeling ignored, and then more time researching solutions/alternatives. But it's not all about the money after all that's all relative anyway, but it's the emotional side also. That said yours was probably one of the more expensive grumbles so it's fair play to be a bit pissed off.

OK, OK, this is only hifi after all and no one's life's in danger or anything - there are a lot of more important things in the world than AIR and OdA's. But the silly thing is most of this stuff is so needless. Maybe AIR was too big a thing to address at the time so they went for burying head in the sand, but there weren't even 100 OdAs sold so why not just come up with a plan and contact those buyers first and make them feel good about it - after all they are (or maybe were) probably Devialets biggest fans.

Maybe if you say you don't want to wait and are happy to have the upgrade in two parts, you might get it sooner? Perhaps you could threaten to post a YouTube of you smashing the OdA to smitherines with a sledgehammer if you don't get the upgrade NOW Big Grin
I second that GuillaumeB, far from coming across as a brat, is showing us all exactly how Devialet feels about their customers. It is very telling to see the experience of someone who was an early adopter of multiple top-of-the-line Devialet products, a founder of the best support network for Devialet customers, and a lucrative customer of a top dealer. If Devialet can't communicate with <100 top customers who bought a piece autographed by their principles then what hope is there for we anonymous many with lesser products? Devialet signed the OdA casework yet can't send a form-letter to a few people? It is important to know how much communication is for show and how much is real. Thanks for sharing, GuillaumeB.

No, I'm sure that's not the case, I think you've got every right to feel a bit miffed.  I tell you what, though:  If I had the money and a choice between a 1000 Pro and an Od'A, I'd go for the latter like a shot. No kidding.
